Hans Truöl - Original Photo Prints

Hans Truöl was born on 26th June 1920 in Augsburg, Germany. From a young age he was enthusiastic about photography & made his passion a profession. As a photojournalist he specialized in the area of winter sports photography & set new standards making him one of the most outstanding press & celebrity photographers of his time. His photographic work from 1932 to 1981 was awarded with numerous prizes and acknowledgements around the world, notably in the U.S., China, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

He was famous in the ski world and his dearest ski friends included Toni Sailer, Karl Schranz, Hubert Strolz, Willy Bogner, and Rosi Mittermeier. His other well-known celebrity friends were “Ferry” Porsche, Carlo Abarth, Ingrid Bergmann, Aga Khan IV and the royal families of the Netherlands, Belgium and Jordan, just to name a few.

In the early 50s, Hans Truöl used a Hasselblad camera; therefore, his photos were characterized by sharpness, definition & contrast range. His stunning backlit shots created great sensation and continue to do so up to the present day.

Another of his passions was the Porsche sports car. One of his most renowned and unique photos was without doubt, the “Porsche Jump”, which gained him international fame.

Hans Truöl passed away on 26th April 1981 in Immenstadt, Germany, leaving an impressive legacy behind. Along that, a unique photographic documentation of the period from 1932 to 1981, which was probably the most exciting time in skiing when simple wooden boards became skis and glacier covered mountains, became playgrounds.
